Barry and Nora find some info on Jansen and the gang she runs with. Turns out she felt she would always be able to satisfy her daughter’s wants if she could read her mind, and now she’s not so sure she can be a good mom without them.

#The flash season 5 episode 2 full#
He’s not super thrilled about it, but you wouldn’t be either if you were in almost a full body cast and a wheelchair.Ĭecile really isn’t handling losing her powers well. Iris talks to a police officer injured in the attack on Gridlock, who explains that he was beaten to death and then stabbed. And she sees Barry and Nora working together, which could be a bigger deal for her.Ĭan Ralph really help Cisco? Maybe not, but at least we’ll get some comic relief out of those scenes. Iris also arrives and gets Captain Singh to admit that Gridlock was attacked en route to prison. They find the victim of Jansen’s powers is literally just a cube of flesh now, which is pretty gross. That leaves a crime scene to investigate, and Barry has to think quick to explain Nora showing up to assist. An ice cube? Force field? Guess we know why this episode is called “Blocked.” She just got done with four years in Iron Heights and is looking to get back in the arms dealing game, and she shows off her power to some poor sap, squeezing him in a cube. Then we get our first look at this week’s meta, Vanessa Jansen. Caitlin also gets Ralph to volunteer his experience getting over heartbreaks to help Cisco out emotionally, so that promises to be fun. His Vibe powers are now apparently intertwined with hers, so he literally can’t forget her. Also, Cecile seems to be losing her powers, which is something they expected to happen before anyway.Ĭaitlin walks in on Cisco reminiscing about Gypsy but it sounds like it could be more than just a broken heart. Iris tells Joe that she now understands why Nora never wants to leave Barry’s side, though she’s obviously not thrilled about it. Iris’s reaction: “So what?” She correctly points out that they’ve changed the future for the better before, and she’s not wrong. It’s confession time for Nora, who comes clean about both her dishonesty about being stuck in the present and the truth about Barry’s disappearance a few years from now. His cool lightning bolt daggers seem to drain the power from the other villain and also work in the usual stabby fashion. The new mystery villain (we already know him as Cicada, even though the heroes don’t), nurses some wounds from battling Gridlock after the last episode ended.

The Flash season 5, episode 2 recap: “Blocked” Whether he is a byproduct of Nora’s jaunt back in time remains to be seen, but regardless, there’s a really, really good chance that the two big subplots will converge at some point, because that’s just how these things work.

There’s also a new big bad lurking that Team Flash doesn’t realize is there yet. Everyone else, but especially Iris, will have to adjust. XS, is sticking around so she can spend time with Barry before he disappears. The broad strokes of the first part of season 5 of The Flash are pretty clear after the premiere. It looks like there’s a deadly new twist on the Villain of the Week formula on this season of The Flash …
